Henry Teesdale published his first "New British Atlas" in 1829. Its initial success allowed Teesdale to publish a further seven editions in slightly different formats up until 1848 when the company was taken over by H G Collins. The success of the county atlas led the the publication of the Universal atlas, 1834, from which this map originates.
Teesdale also produced large folding decorative county maps which rivalled the map makers Charles and James Greenwood.
