André Brasilier is a French painter, born in 1929. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Art , and he currently lives and works in Paris.
His artistic style blends abstraction and expressionism. His paintings are lyrical and dreamlike and they explore an intimate communion with nature. Horses— ”charged with symbolism, strength, dynamism and beauty" (Brasilier)—feature prominently, their elegant forms cantering through seascapes, winter woods and brilliant sunsets. The artist's wife, is also a favorite subject, often portrayed delicately arranging flowers.
He has had many major exhibitions including a retrospective exhibtion held in Russia at the renowned State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg in 2005, and also in Germany at the Museum Haus Ludwig für Kunstausstellungen Saarlois in 2007.
