An original lithographic print by David Roberts, part of the Egypt and Nubia series. Published in 1856 by Day & Son, London. Original colour.
David Roberts RA RBA (1796 – 1864) was a Scottish painter. He is especially known for his detailed lithographic prints from The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt, and Nubia, a series of lithograph prints that he produced from sketches he made during long tours of the regions (1838–1840). These and his large oil paintings of similar subjects made him a prominent Orientalist painter. He was elected as a Royal Academician in 1841.
