Henri Laurens (1885–1954) was a prominent French sculptor and illustrator known for his significant contributions to the Cubist movement and his later development of a more organic, curvilinear style, often depicting the female figure and themes from mythology
.Born in Paris, Laurens initially worked as a stonemason and decorator before pursuing a career in art. He attended evening drawing classes, where his early work was influenced by Auguste Rodin. In 1911, he met Georges Braque and was introduced to Cubism, a movement that profoundly shaped his initial artistic direction. He was also friends with other key figures like Pablo Picasso and Juan Gris.
