Petrus Schenk (1645 - 1715 ), a Dutch engraver worked for Gerard Valk (1650 1726 ), a successful publisher in the second half of the 17th century. Petrus went into partnership with Schenk after marrying his sister in 1687. Together in 1694 they purchased the plates of Jansson and Hondius. This was followed by moving the business into the offices of Hondius where they specialized in the making of Globes. The business proved very successful and was to continue for the next 50 years.
