Jaillot went into partnership with the sons of Nicholas Sanson in 1664. Over time he would rework Sanson,s plates, updating and revising the plates as new information came in.
Like most world maps of the seventeenth century California is illustrated as an island. A significant cartographic mistake that was much debated and continued into the eighteenth century.
Part of New Zealand is indicated on the Western Hemisphere together with the southern part of Tasmania.
