"In The Bright Oval" was produced by Wassily Kandinsky in 1925 whilst he was teaching at the German art school Bauhaus. This painting was produced following the publication of his essay "point and Line to Plane" in which Kandinsky developed the theories surrounding the meaning of form and colour as autonomous elements. For this painting Kandinsky exemplified this notion by ensuring that both colour and composition were at the forefront of the canvas.
